Default Basic clutch questions...

Long story short, I had the dealer install the Harley batwing mini apes and cables on my '13 Street Glide, that made the clutch lever really difficult to pull, so the dealer installed an ez-clutch kit. It seems as though the dealer cannot get the clutch adjusted properly. I have had a few issues with it so far, thats why I need to ask these probably dumb questions.

When starting the bike in first gear should the bike move forward (usually I start in neutral with clutch lever pulled in)?

With the bike in first gear and shutting off the motor by the kill switch, should the bike "relax", kind of settles back?

It seems to me like the engagement area is too wide, meaning it seems to slip with the lever out and seems to not disengage completely with the lever pulled all the way into the bar. Could this be because of the ez-clutch?

Thanks for any help you can give me as right now I'm not loving my new bike.

Changing the cables and bars would not have changed the pull pressure. Putting and EZ pull lessens the throw of the clutch.
so.,..your clutch is not releasing all the way which is why it is pulling a little bit. Very hard on the clutch plates and oil over time as your clutch is "slipping" when doing this.

You need to adjust your clutch cable or even the clutch internally so the lever has very little free play( enough to take up slack when the clutch gets warm). Where does your clutch begin to disengage in relation to the pull right now?

Clutch has been adjusted both by the dealer and by then by myself after riding home, internally and then the cable. 3/4 turns out internally and there is the correct amount of free play at the lever 1/16" to 1/8". The lever is really close to the bar when it starts to move bike forward.

Last weekend after picking it up at dealer I had to stop for fuel (after highway miles), I could barely shift it into second, third gear, really took alot of foot effort. Then when home I had to keep both feet on ground to keep bike from pulling forward with lever all the way pulled in to bar.

Cool

Sounds to me like it's not connected right. Ball bearings not seated properly on the right side where the cable goes into tranny.

It's a new bike, nothing wrong with the clutch pack, tech screwd up setting the cable in the tranny. I'd start looking there first.

You said the clutch was adjusted by you after riding home. Did you let the bike cool overnight or at least 6 hrs before you adjusted it?
A hot or warm clutch is gonna throw your adjustment off.

i was just thinking this today after my bar install. i "thought" it seemed a bit tough to pull after the install, but it's still not bad. took a road trip to Tx (apx 350 miles one way). lever seemed to gain some slack over the duration of the trip, to Tx, around town, then back to La. over a 4 day weekend.

i did just a little adjustment after coming home, all is good with shifting, finding neutral, ect... just seems to have a harder pull than it did stock, and not as quick of a snap back (return to engaged/ away from the hand grip).

maybe it's the Magnum cable... i might run it by the shop where we did the install just to see.

A cold clutch will drag enough to move the bike.

Sounds like ur cable is binding up somewhere. As previously stated, the pull pressure should not have increased post change.
