Heres what I want in my head. You guys tell me if it can be found. I would like to add a switch (like the acc. or cruise) to my SG that will open the garage door. It would need to be more of a button type or a spring loaded rocker. Any ideas besides the headlight switch thing from HD?
Someone took there garage door opener fob and mounted it underneath the fairing or tank and ran a wire from it to the back ofthe accessory switch and grounded it. Make sense?
Do a search, I think it may have been 2006streetglide.
I went to the stealer and bought a trip odometer button and switch (under $15) and installed it just above the trip odometer button in my console. Then I wired a garage door opener so that the button trips the opener. The opener is under my console. Works perfect.

I did the same concept on my Road King except I replaced the accessory toggle switch on the back of the nacelle with a momentary toggle and put the opener insidethe nacelle. It's been there two years and I have never had a problem nor have I had to replace the battery. I like this idea better as I could get my accessory switch back if I ever needed it.
I bought a $.50 momentary switch from Radio shack and hard wired it to an extra remote I had. I drilled a small hole in the lower right hand part of my fairing and mounted the button and zip tied the remote to a bracket inside my fairing. Works great and only cost me 50 pennies(plus solder and time I guess). Took me about 10 minutes to do it also.
Okay, I like some of these ideas. I still haven't given up on the look of the factory switch installed in the dash. Does anyone know who the actual manufacturer is that makes the switches for HD? Maybe they make a momentary switch that will fit. I promise to stop asking after this...
I will carry my remote, Icannot stand the thought of someone stealing my scoot and having access to my house. My opener also turns off my inside alarm and all.

Wahl, my approach wuz a tad more complicated, but thar's sum thangs ah'm jest **** on. Ah wanted to preserve the "OEM" look as much as possible, plus ah needed ta add sum switches fer mah strobe packs an' such, so ah got the OEM accessory switch pod that bolts on at the grips. Ah got a horn button, remove the horn rocker an' replaced it with one of the "on-off" rockers off the standard switch. Ah've now got a nice neat li'l set-up that cost more'n most would consider worthwhile, but it gave me the appearance that wuz paramount ta mah mind.
When yer as oogly as AH am, ya gotta try ta purty up what ya kin!
