afr is perfect?for what, some consider 13.8 perfect some say 14.7 is perfect?truth is any were in-between depending on throttle position and rpm kinda = load the motor sees. imo far shouldn't be set at a constant.
It means that on the dyno it's as close to that as you can get it...and, as I stated, how I'm riding really doesn't have much effect. I've actually gotten better riding 2up into a head wind than riding solo in calm conditions...
Then your tune is not as perfect as you believe. Stoich should only be the target in light load cruise range conditions. Everything outside of that should be mildly enriched and progressively enriched as WOT is approached. the AFR trace on a dyno run, if one was included, does not necessarily represent an accurate picture of the AFR condition across the entire map under actual operating conditions. If you have that much faith that your dyno operator/tuner has done a perfect job and you are getting crappy mileage, then maybe you just got a bike that gets crappy mileage. Hope you figure it out.
My high as been 47 mpg and my low is around 32 mpg. I've so far documented 67 fill ups and my average is 39.30. My gas mileage changes with speed more than anything, faster the sustained speed the lower it gets. If I'm running a steady 80+ the bike will never see 40mpg more likely around 36mpg or less. My bike as the 103 motor with a Stage 1 from Fuelmoto.
added: My 09 Road King with a 96 motor stage one easily averaged 42mpg and rarely dropped into the 30's mpg. I was so surprised by the difference I started to keep track and now consider it normal for this bike.

I'm not happy with the dealer that did the tune, and think you are probably right that the tune isn't where it should be. Between the mileage, the occasional pop on acceleration/deceleration and the freakin heat that CenTex HD has sworn to me is all normal, and in spite of the numbers, something's just not right. Surely they wouldn't LIE to us????
Guess I should go ahead and pull the trigger on cams and the jackpot header and have Ed at Dyno Difference up in Dallas tune it. When you're 200-250 miles from the closest reputable/respected tuner, kinda makes it a little harder. I've thought about going to an auto tune setup like the power vision just for that reason.
People claiming 50 mpg may be talking about their best mileage ever, not for running around normally.
Best mileage is 50 mph on open highway, no hills or headwinds, and on cruise control.
Lightweight rider also helps.
YMMV
Over 2500 mile ride through ME,NH,Vt,& MA 2-up fully loaded with luggage.
Actual mileage on odometer could be (is) inaccurate, but according to trip odometer we averaged 48.7 mpg riding mountains, towns, cities, and open highways...........
It's been this way since day 1....not out of the ordinary, it's the norm.
2008 with Xieds, Big Louie's w/ 2" baffles, Fullsac tru-dual conversion kit, and a RSD breather......
I have a friend the just did a 103 upgrade on his 09 Ultra. It runs really good but he is complaining now about fuel mileage. He has not got over 38MPG since spending the $3K on the upgrade.
