lifter question

Default lifter question
Took bike in to have cams installed. They called and said I needed new lifters. Talking to guys atwork they said they have never had o replaced lifters. Just wondering what you guys think. The bike is 2009 ultra with 40000 miles on it.

I would change them at 40k since they are doing cams.

I would and will replace as well when I do my cams this winter.

Mine went out at about 11K on my 13 FLTRU (rattle when cold). Replaced with Fueling lifters, just paid the diff between them and stock.

Harley recommends if doing cams and lifters have more than 6K on them to change them. They say they wear together then. I had 12k on mine when I did cams and have no problems and am at 20k now.

don't know how different bikes are than cars but would never think about doing a cam in a car with out doing lifters to
