Default New Limited Blew Lunch

The wife and I flew to San Diego and rented a Ultra Limited. I was surprised when they brought out a 2014 for me.

I made it to Yuma Az and stopped for a picture in front of the HD dealer. About two seconds after I took this picture, the Limited Blew it's coolant.

It's a common occurrence these days. Just be glad you don't own that bike like some of us.

Actually, it's not a common occurrence, but I'm sure very frustrating for the minority.

I would too, but it's the same few folks who are often cross posting in multiple threads.

My (volume) dealer has had it occur one one bike. Which is too many, of course.

Me? So far so good. Great bike.

Well, if there were one per dealer, that would still be 800 affected bikes. Thankfully, we've heard from only a tiny fraction of that. And if each dealer has sold on average 5 Limiteds, maybe 4,000+ sold so far.

Let's see... Less than a dozen or so problem bikes reported here. Hell, let's round that less than a dozen up to say, 200 affected bikes out of a ton sold, it would still be a very small minority. And I highly doubt it's that many.

Sucks for those owners, sure. And needs to be fixed, for sure. But I don't see no conspiracy....

Default Puking

Well, if it had to happen, it's nice it was in front of a Harley dealership. They got right on it. The mechanic said they had one other one do it. He said the fix was to use some channel locks on the tabs on the radiator cap and squeeze them puppies.

Didn't sound like a real good idea to me, but hey.. it's a rental. Got back on the road and all is well.

And there are not compensator problems on 9-13s. That is why they have re-engineered it 3 times since the original. Or there are not problems with starter clutches because of compensator problems. Just ask the dealers, they will tell you there are no problems and reason for warrantying their work. Those of us who have experience know better, just saying.
