Default Speedometer trouble

Has anybody experienced their speedo (not banana hammock) needle acting crazy? Yesterday I was cruising on I-95 and noticed the needle going down to zero while doing 80. It would intermittently lose signal and restore.

I have the new style speedo/tach on an '07 road king. All of the other functions continued to work. I have cleaned up the connections on the speed sensor but haven't tried it again, got rained out.

Any feedback would be appreciated

you checked the sensor pick up for metal filings too? ( wipe off with rag)

that can be cause of speedo trouble.

check in after test ride

Default Speed Sensor

Yea, common. I replaced my buddy's on his 2007 Road King. Needle would jump up and go back and stay at zero. I also think his threw an engine light or check engine light. His is FI so maybe the computer gets information from this sensor?

Anyhow, changed sensor, last October, never an issue again. Since you have to remove starter to get the sensor out, may not be worth the effort to clean and put back in. His old one looked perfect and clean, however, changed out since had bike apart. I believe he told me it was a $50 part.

Thanks, what is the sensor with the two posts and wires just above the trapdoor? I don't have my manual to look at. That's what I cleaned up the connections on...it's pretty much out in the open can get it out with a deep socket.
