Default 2014 Auto volume control

I have a 2014 Street Glide with the 4.3 radio. This radio has an automatic volume control that only works when it wants to. If it does not work, I can shut the bike off and restart it and then it will work. I have had it to the dealer numerous times and it still does it. The dealer did the update download and factory reset. It worked for 2 days after the reset, but then it quit again. Has anyone had this problem and if so did it get fixed. I got a call from the dealer and they asked me to bring the bike in next Wed. so the can check more things. I hope they get it figured out.

Had the same problem with my 2014 SGS until I found out by myself. You have to let the system boot before you start the bike. When the logo screen fades away, you're good. So, turn on the ignition, put your helmet and gloves on, then, crank her up and go for a ride

Agreed with App... One must truly let the new bikes boot up entirely before cranking them over and riding. I have heard that many of the systems, not just the radio, rely on the system fully booted to work properly. if one does not let the bike computer fully boot up before starting the bike who knows what might not work right.

For those of you that this feature is working for.........do you notice the auto volume getting quieter as you come to a stop? I feel like it gets louder as my speed increases but I'm more interested in having it lower as I come to a stop.

Good question. Technically, it should. But since I listen to music loud at highway speeds, I always bring it back down when I come to a stop. So I don't really know.

after numerous trips to the dealer, I got them to put in a new radio. It is still at rthe dealer, I will pick it up this afternoon. I will see if that fisxed the problem. In regards to letting the radio completely boot up, I never thought about doing that. The Harley tech never mentioned that to the mechanic that was working on my bike. I will try that.
Thanks for the info.

I called Harley tech support about the volume getting loud so quickly and they told me that the volume will go from normal stoped level to the top auto control level by the time the bike reaches 20 mph. After that it will only increase only 1 db per 10 mph. They told me the 2013 and earlier radio would increase sound every 7 mph and do that to approx.80 mph.

It won't get any quieter than the volume level set when idling. Set the level, go for ride, it will get louder than return to what it was set at. If you increase the volume while moving, well, you've increased the set level, which is the new level it will return to when you stop. Not rocket science
