They shouldn't need to be fixed!!!! Theres no way HD didn't know about these problems before they pushed these bikes to market - theres just way too many problems being reported for them not to show up in testing... They knew there were issues but they sold these bikes anyway rather than delay the release. Im 100% certain they'll find fixes for everything and these bikes will be great for years to come... But in the meantime there are a lot of owners with bikes that are in the shop instead of on the road.
And that (above post) is exactly why I've tried to never buy the first model year of new changes!

The world is full of "haters".
Why? Because not everybody likes the same things.

If you like your 2014 Harley then just ride it and ignore the critics. If you are so worried whether someone likes your bike or not then you're the one with the problem.

The OP's statement that the latest bikes are 'light years' beyond the bikes of 10 years ago is fairly apt. I traded my '04 Road King off for a '14 Street Glide...and man, there's a huge difference.

I think, as you go back through the years, 07 was a benchmark year (6-speeds/96 CuIn), 09 was, too (frame update), and was it '12 when they introduced the 103 CuIn motor as stock? Every year since the 88 ci's came out in 1999, there have been incremental updates. In ten years, a lot of changes occurred, and those cumulative updates add up to a quantitive shift in the technology.

I don't know why the 14's are getting so much 'press'. I think they're only marginally improved over the later years that preceded them. But in terms of my 10-year old bike...like the OP said...'light years'.

As for haters, everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. And this being America, they're free to express it. That said, it's my considered opinion that anyone who'd opine my '04 RK was a better bike than my '14 SG doesn't have a firm grasp of the reality.

First thing, I have to say that I am not a hater. If I could afford to get a '14 I would have traded in by now. But I structured my loan so that my bike, and my wife's 2011 Escape, are both paid off before she has to go to part time to do her nurse practitioner clinicals. By the time I can trade up, I believe the stop-gap liquid cooling that the 2014 Limited has will blossom into a fully liquid cooled engine. My opinion, of course.

So, in my mind, everybody should be thanking the 2014 owners for being the guinea pigs that work all of the bugs out, making the next generation bikes even better.

So, thanks guys!

Another thing. You do realize that "light years" is a measurement of distance, not time, and that the people that are haters are not "trollers", but trolls, right?

It would have been interesting if this forum was around when MOCO introduced a (OMG) a drive belt instead of chain drive... GEEZUS... all the doubters thinking the belt would never last....blah blah blah.... :-)
