Rust color on inside of left stock exhaust....Normal?
I just noticed today that I have what looks like rust on inside of my left tail pipe of my 2007 Road King Classic. I am still in the break in period and just turned over 400 miles. Is this normal? The right tail pipe is not showing this.
RE: Rust color on inside of left stock exhaust....Normal?
I am going to guess here that you have the stock system with the cross-over pipe, right? If you do, it is very likely that the left side pipe(while on the seat) does not get hot enough to burn off the condensation from combustion as most of the exhaust from both cylinderswill exit the right side making that side hot, the left side cooler

Lol. That's funny. So for just a mere 150 you can get rid of it??? Think I'll just wait for a cloudy day. This board is great! Just about an answer to any question we may have about our bikes. Did my first real ride today...160 miles round trip....anyway besides noticing the rust, I found that I need to keep it in 4th gear untill around 60. Giving it throttle in 5th going anything less than 60 sure do make it rattle. Found through a search on here that others noticed they were lugging the bike too trying to accelerate in 5th going less than 60. Anyway my concerns (for now) have been taken care of thanks to this board. For those of you who have seen me whining about the lift I bought, I'll know tomorrow how that's going to work out.[sm=confused06.gif]

Its hard to tell, but I had the same issue on my '03 Heritage and it was runnin' lean and hot. There was no "soot" on the insides of the exhaust tips. With all the EPA stuff people are talkin about with the new bikes, that might be sumthin' to consider??Just my.02
