My CVO 110" motor is known for lifters to go bad around 25k.
Long story short, I had my wrench at the dealer document it every time.
The last time it was really loud and we both thought it was the lifters.
Well it turns out to be something small got trapped in the oil pump. Scared the gearing inside the oil pump and as well as the cam plate.
ESP Warranty took care of everything!
Paid the difference from stock to the New SE billet Camplate and SE High Volume oil pump, the New SE lifters, New SE inner bearings and some other small goodies.
I know aftermarket are better, but my bike is still under ESP Warranty till 2016.
Good news is I was able to upgrade to my Fullsac Sleeper Stage II kit while he was inside there and am very, very stoked with the performance!!
How do your new lifters (Woods I think) compare to the stock ones?
You guys want to hear loud lifters......you should have heard my Sporster with hydro to solid lifters and cams etc....85hp. But it went like hell! Would smoke any stock 103 no problem and then some!
Same. I didn't have much noise I could attribute to lifters. Top end (rocker boxes) is much noisier IMO. Woods lifters seem to be fine so far and I don't anticipate any issues.
Might want to reconsider lifters other than Woods to reduce the noise. I replaced the SE PN 18535-99C lifters with Woods PN WDL-1012 lifters with about no change in lifter noise.
...and what does that tell you? Maybe it's not the lifters???
Noise on a 103? Really? Never heard that before. Solution: put a firewall between you and the motor 3 feet away from your ears. Then it will be just as quiet as your cage.
Noise should be out the pipes, not a rattlin-*** sewing machine between
your legs. "Go clean your cage"
