Has anyone ever custom ordered an Electra Glide Ultra, Limited or CVO from MoCo? The wife isn't going to be happy until we add a 2014 Limited to the garage, and I figure if that's what we are going to do, then I'm going to a CVO...but we're not crazy about any of the standard CVO colors.
I see custom color sets on the website, but very limited info other than they are just that, custom.
Just one opinion here..... If you're going to drop $39K on a new CVO Ultra Limited, I'd get the paint I really wanted. I've got a set of Custom HD tins, and I ended up sending the front fender back 3 times until they got it right. But I couldn't be happier. Their paint is exceptional. It lasts forever if you take care of it, and you rarely (I never have) see your bike when you're riding down the road. Do your due diligence, and make sure it's something you really want for that kind of $$.
I was looking at the "cowboy" custom set for my limited but I would have added 5k to the price. All the color shop custom colors are only made for one year and are very limited in availability. "Cowboy" was limited to 250 sets max if I recall. (The availability is listed in the color shop part of the catalog) So once they receive orders for 250 (doesn't matter what model) that's it. Keep in mind it a full extra set of tins. If you order the bike and it's built the MoCo will put the custom tins on for delivery, and your stock tins will come in a box. If you order after the fact them they just ship them to your dealer and then either you or the dealer puts them on for you.
Not to hijack but...... When I rode a softail, the stock paint was not something I was happy with. I found a guy on the internet named "shadd Ross" he owns vivid dragon, he used to be a color shop painter, now he's an Indy, I ordered through him, got my softail painted for 1200.
He already has the parts, and has about a 2-3 week turn around and does fantastic work, the paint on my tank had cracked, he dropped everything, painted and shipped a new tank in under a week. He's got a pretty good website, vividdragon.com , don't believe his prices, just call him, starving painters, are negotiating painters

Thats a much better price...but part of that HD price is whole second set of tins.
I was looking at a set of the custom color tins. if you go whole hog and get the extended saddlebags and the tourpack, it'll run you close to $10,000. (at least for the road glide models). add that to the cost of the cvo, and you're looking at some big bucks.
but yeah, the odds of seeing another one like it on the road go down very substantially. if that sort of thing is important to you.
If you're going to go all out, dream up a color scheme of your own and have it painted. If you buy new body parts, i think the old one's are going to be difficult to sell for a fair price.

My buddy ordered that set when he ordered his SGS with the extended bags it was $6500.

Lets keep in mind a softy is just 3 pieces 2 fenders and a tank.
