Not true there's an Indy in my area that prefers the SERT and is well known for his dyno tuning. On the other hand there are no dealers in my area that will touch the FI with anything other than an EPA compliant stage one download. The SERT is obsolete now but at the time it was the most tunable and got the best long term results.I liked that no hardware was left on the bike to fail at a later date.I had a custom map built for my Dyna in 06 and as far as I know (sold it last summer to buy my Limited) it's still running strong to this day.
YEA! What he said. The Indy in my area prefers the SEPST/SERT as well. He will tune others. But he prefers the HD tuners, and gets better results.
Like was stated above, take a look at the Jackpot 2-1-2. The V&H has been known to drag due to it hanging down lower than the stock headers. The jackpot is said to preform as good or better and look better as well!
I'm running Rush Racing True Dual ceramic coated and have been happy with the performance and the sound. Probably leaving some on the table power wise, but I didn't buy a bagger to drag race...
And one of the nice things about the SERT, there isn't a good dyno guy out there that can't use it, it does everything any other tuner will do (not auto tuner, TUNER) and last but not least...you're on the road and have a problem and pull in to the dealer where ever you happen to be, there isn't a dealer in the country who will turn you away if you are using a SERT. Just ALWAYS have it in one of your saddlebags. There ARE dealers who can't, and WON'T work on the bike with other than Harley tuners unless you agree to allow them to flash your ECM to a Harley map.

I guess the tuner is the part that worries me. I've always went thru HD for stage one so the thought of installing the PV with canned map makes me wonder how good it will be compared to letting them road tune with HD tuner.
If your dealer is going to 'road tune' what does that entail? Most dealers go with the closest canned map...and the bike will probably run OK.
If it were me, I'd do the 'road tune' myself using a PV tuner. It's not that difficult, current PV software/firmware does most of the work and you don't need a PC to get a good tune (not an OK tune). Plus...you can mount it to the handlebars and monitor up to 6 engine/tune parameters in real time.
It's a flash tuner just like the SEPST only it has a lot more capability and is much more user friendly.
Buy from Fuel Moto and it will be delivered with the correct map for your mods, and they will provide any support required. They have many happy supporters on this forum.
I think the dealer pricing is a bit high. The PV will probably save you some money, and their mufflers and pipes also work really well. Consider one of their package deals.
The tuner is your choice, but I have both PV and SERT on different bikes. The PV is a much better tuner. I won't be using SERT's or the newer SEPST in the future.
Back in the day, or 4 years ago with my 09 I paid out $200 for a set of "almost new" Rinehart 3.5 slip-ons. 09 head pipe good to use as it was the last year of the non-cats.
$313 for a PC-V which I still run and $115 for a Ness Stage 1 AC.
So, a little less than $650 for the stage 1.
Wowow, my how things have went up!!
If you are spending that much, you might as well have your cams changed out now too as you will probably want to down the road anyway.
I have under $1000 in my stage 1 stuff (except the tune); Ness sucker/Fullsack Xpipe/Fatshotz/Powervision, but got everything, except the A/C, slightly used off the forum "for sale" section and installed it myself. What is your bike but used parts? Just saying, I'd shop around and do some research before getting anything. I'm also not a fan of VH headers because of the turning clearance issue and look but they are quality stuff. The tuner (SEPRT/TTS/PV) will depend more on who is doing the tuning. Find a good tuner and get the unit he prefers. Ya can google the parts ya are looking at to get prices and reviews.

Did the auto tune feature make a difference over just using the Fuelmoto map?
It helped enough. I am not super versed in it like some of the folks here though. I want to learn more about it but am pretty happy with the way bike runs now...
