I was going to mention that as well. You need a motor that works with the old frame. Did the 05 have a 5 speed still? I mean while you are in their, look at upgrading both.

Something else to consider is that the original VIN/engine number is on a Harley Reman engine case.

ya the HD remans are nice, ask your dealer what the turn around time is. If you can be without your bike for 2 months it's fine, but I can have an S&S on my Indy's door step in 4 days

good option with the reman from HD but is it available in Canada? I live in eastern Canada bike weather pretty much done here for likely 5 months so waiting wouldn't b too bad .I looked at Harley Canada didn't see anything about reman
