make certain when you go to purchase you understand what engine you need. You state you have an 05 Ultra, the engine to transmission bolt up pattern changed in 07 and the frame changed in 09 therefore using a later model engine may require greater effort to install than going with an S&S replacement version
I was going to mention that as well. You need a motor that works with the old frame. Did the 05 have a 5 speed still? I mean while you are in their, look at upgrading both.
ya the HD remans are nice, ask your dealer what the turn around time is. If you can be without your bike for 2 months it's fine, but I can have an S&S on my Indy's door step in 4 days
good option with the reman from HD but is it available in Canada? I live in eastern Canada bike weather pretty much done here for likely 5 months so waiting wouldn't b too bad .I looked at Harley Canada didn't see anything about reman

Take a look at the HD USA website - just change countries when looking at the Canada one. Then go to the 'Owners' tab and select 'Engines'.
The S&S T111 engine is a touring engine and will give you just over 100 HP and TQ, plus a very smooth running engine. Jus' sayin' - as an S&S V107T owner!
