Default Cold weather riding

It was 38 and overcast when I headed out for work this morning, I was dressed warmly, only experienced cold fingertips. My problem was the condensation on the inside of my helmet shield. I would have to push the face shield open, which let the cold air in. What is the best way to deal with this?
My ride is 30 miles, rural 2 lane highway with curves, hills, and lots of deer. I really need to be able to see.

You don't mention what brand of helmet you have. Try a Pinlock shield if it's available for your helmet - that will prevent the fogging.

I like to ride all year as well. +1 on the pinlock shield if it's available for your helmet. Basically a double-pane shield. I use it on my helmet and I get no fogging, at least down to 40 degrees. I haven't ridden below that yet. Might also try opening the chin vent if that helps.

My helmet is a 3/4, generic brand from my Independent dealer. I had a leather chin/neck protector, my coat zipped all the way up and the shield pulled down to the coat, so there was not much air flow. I did have the helmet vents open. I have a round fat face that doesn't fit well in full coverage helmets.

I also ride during the cooler temps and experience the same thing. I end up leaving the shield up just a little to generate a small amount of air flow. Yes it is colder but as you mentioned, seeing is pretty important too.

The dual pane faceshield sounds great, I just keep mine slightly cracked when wearing the full face. For the cold fingers heated gloves work well but I got a set of handguard sheilds from my brother, they are made of steel and work awesome. They get your hands out of the airstream and it is amazing the difference.

Some helmets come with a breath guard, a small device hat keeps your breath from fogging the visor. You might see if one is available for your helmet.

I've had some luck with applying dish soap and wiping it off with a dry towel after it dries. You have to reapply about once a week though. I have also used Rain X and you don't have to reapply it as often. I've seen anti fog solutions too, but haven't tried them yet.

I have used multiple anti fog spray and cloths. They do help but if you expect rain take micro fiber cloths and the anti fog so when you stop you can dry the sheild and re apply. Snow ski shops have lots of anti fog stuff so do places that sell snow mobiles

I use one of the HARLEY full face that lifts up in the front. I leave the shield open one notch and wear a Harley face mask as well, very warm. I've been able to use the Harley face masks with a half helmet and been very comfortable.
