Default i am new to this forum ? about 07 road glide

hello i am new to this forum and i wanted to try and get some input. i currently have an 06 street bob but i am going to trade it in on either a street glide or road glide. but i have several questions. i have ridden a few road glides and i like the frame mounted fairing alot. on the street glide the fairing is mounted to the forks in high wind conditions does that make the bike hard to control or wobble. also is it worth it to pay the extra money for an 07 with the bigger motor or get an 06 and just get that motor upgraded.

thank you for any help.

Rent em both and find out for yourself! I personally have no problems with my Electra Glide and the batwing fairing.

Been over 95Mph (track) on my SG and did not feel any wobble. There should be no hesitation on your part as the Street Glide is the superior bike! The vivid black ones are notably 2-3mph faster when heavily waxed in the top end.

Seriously I like the RG ecpecially some of the blacked out ones on this forum but I just cant get past the NINJA look of that dam fairing!

Good luck!

Wife just got a new Street glide and it is a fine machine. I ahve friends with Road Glides, and they are equaly fine.the fairing on the Street Glide is not a problem, and wind won't be a real issue. That being said, the Road Glide with the frame mounted fairing is going to be the most stable touring bike HD makes.I had a problem with the looks of them at first, but the more I see them, the better I like them.

As far as the 06 vs. the 07, I have an '05 EG Classic and I can't tell much difference in power between it and the '07 of the wife's. The 6 speed is a nice touch if you are going to be doing a lot of 70 to 80 mph touring, but if you run a lot of secondary highways and secenic byways in the 60 to 65 MPH range it is a non-issue.

We rode for 200 miles yesterday, and the SG and the Classic both got right at 51 MPG so they are comparable in that department also.

Regards,

Bill

As the owner of a 07 road glide who had many bat wing classics before, I can tell you the only person that will tell you a SG is better as to handling or wind resistance is someone who has never owned a road glide. The road glide steers much easier, is more stabil at high speed, and at low speed also. Bat wing keeps full weight of, fairing, radio, lights, wiring and all gauges, mirrors on your forks. All this is supported on the bike frame (except spedo & tach) on the road glide. That said, it really doesnt matter once you get use to how each handles, I never had issues with either except I never would take a bat wing bbike over a 100mph. I have experanced a slight front wobble at that speed one time. I had my road glide to 110 and it was solid as a rock and climbing before I backed off, since most never ride baggers at this speed that will not be much of a factor for most. As to 06 or 07, I would go 07 over a 06 and trying to upgrade motor.

The Road Glide also provides a dash board to put stuff on. Seiously though, the RG is a stable bike and is a unique look to the other H-D touring scooters. I added the Tour Pac to mine and sometimes, I just like to stand there and look at it in the garage.

This one's discussed a lot around here. I've owned E-glides and have a roadie on order. After many long trips on the batwings, I rode a roadie and found that with 2-up, the bikes easier to maneuver. It's a matter of preference, but a lot of seasoned batwingers are opting to trade for the frame-mount. The extra storage pockets come in handy as well.

Bought 07 RG also have 03RK which i want to keep. I feel closed in on an EG. Like the looks of the RG . Seems everyone has a EG. Am putting tour pak on mine, Wish they came with CB. Go for 07. Everyone is going to want bigger engine and 6 spd. I put on some SE exhaust like i used in 03 and it rocks. No problems like some people claim.
