So my 2012 is spotting, took it out for a spin yesterday and notice a pretty good oil spot. This has been occurring for about 6 weeks after I lifted the on the jack, What could I have possibly messed up under there.? Thanks
I always wash my bike after an oil change with the pressure washer (being careful around certain areas) to clean any oil off motor mounts and beneath the case. That way I`ll know for sure if a leak develops.
Check the Transmission Cover on the right side of the bike just behind the floor board. Bolts are notorious for slacking off and oil leaking out the cover. When on kickstand oil runs from the high side (right side of back) to the low side (left or Jiffy Stand side) making it difficult to dagnose.

Thanks for this Information .
There is a metal plate that seems to protect the oil pan and other components, that plate had a good amount of oil on it some fresh some dried, I cleaned it well on my last oil change, So i think this is where it's coming from. But this happened the first time I lifted the bike on the jack, before that there was no residual or leak, Back to my original question Is there anything under there I could have Inadvertently damaged? Thanks.
Good advice from others. If you still can't find the leak... Is it leaking from towards the front left side of the engine? If so, check the wire harness coming out of the front of the primary case.
These wires come from the stator inside the primary case. I had a leak I couldn't find for a long time. Dealer checked it out and said I needed a new stator at a cool $500+ (huh??). I told them to hold off on it, brought the bike home, did some research online, and found that this is not uncommon.
It was the stator harness coming out of the primary case; the seal around the harness as it comes out breaks down and leaks. The fix for most people as well as myself was to carefully put some RTV sealant around the seal where it leaks from (after cleaning out the gunked up oil), then let it cure for 24 hours. Hasn't leaked since, and didn't have to spend upwards of $500 for a new stator & labor that I didn't need.
