only in fun but a lot of truth in the post.a lot of it.
but if you are in the 60 % you will not understand ..
some will call it culture, education , poise ,no hang ups or complexes ........and achievement in life .
and THABULL, i do not trailer my bikes . i ride them hard all over and that includes europe ,many times and at speeds that many only dream about .in the passes.......and on the bahn or autoroute.
again, only in fun ,but the fun depends on what side of the 60 % you sit.
regardless , i like the 60 % as much as those on the other side of 60%.
It's a MOTORCYCLE RALLY and there are a lot of snow birds that have been stuck all winter and come down south for some fun. Thats what Daytona is Fun and Partying 24 hrs a day for Ten days. By the way I wasn't part of the 60% but it sure was fun to watch them.[:-] Next time get a room further from Main street.
I've done the Daytona thing a couple of years and have the sets of earplugs worn out to prove it. It's a loud, crazy, smelly, strange trip and, if you really want to get down to the nuts and bolts, nothing more than a great marketing ploy on everyone's account.
But even that's cool, cuz you can get good deals during bike week.
I get a kick out of looking at the people there, and watching the crazy things they do. It's like watching a massive episode of Jerry Springer and I'm right in the middle of it.
As far as the drunk riding goes, it amazes me, too. I've seen dudes on crotch rockets doing above 100 on Hwy 40 heading west late at night, cutting between me and oncoming traffic. Insane and crazy. They always have a rash of deaths during bike week because of the stupid knuckleheads riding around crazy.
I've lived about 20 minutes from Main St. (All year resident) for nearly 20 years now. Bike Week and Biketoberfest "come to me". Gotta love it! I stay clear of Main St. as much as possible. Parking is lousy and I don't feel like burning up my clutch in all the traffic. I put on nearly 1,000 miles during this pastevent, mostly between Flagler Beach and Oak Hill. There are lots of fun stops with plenty of "action" off Main St.. I refuse to pay $6.00 + for a "quenching beverage"as you'll find on Main St.. $1.00 well brands down in Edgewater, $1.00 bloody mary's in Osteen, and lots of bathing suits in New Smyrna and Flagler Beach. Great riding everywhere EXCEPT on Main St.. Yes, it is a Freak Show, but I'd rather spend my time and monies visiting the other venues, and stay clear of Main St..
damn FFB sup dude!! Hey don't go to Laconia New Hamshire during bike week either. All the performing is bike week with out it .........whats the point of bike week! Who uses pubescent and attends bike week? Is it even spelt right? Ha! Ha!
I spent three days up there and have to say the best thing was lack of lines. Turnout was obviously lower than years past but it was real nice not having to fight crowds at Daytona speedway and Destination. The babes were all so present and the weather was incredible. I enjoyed this year more than others.
just got back from my weekend down there. had another great year. third time for me. as far as riding and drinking go...i stay at the cabbage patch so when i am done riding for the day i park next to my tent and then crack open a few.
the weather was alot better down there than up here. but now it is about 60, so looks like im riding to work tomorrow.
