Default With all this talk about tuners...

I will be in the market very soon for a tuner for the '14 Limited, and the '14 SGS.

There seem to be some folks who know their poop around here.

I know I know, the standard answer is Call Jaime....

I'm not looking for a phone book on an interactive forum, I WILL call Jaime before I buy, and probably Steve at TTS as well.

In the past I've run Carbs, dealer downloads, FuelPaks (not an option this time), and a 2 bike TTS kit.

PC, SESPT, PV or TTS.

Pros vs. cons of all that you are familiar with??

Cost to do both bikes??

I guess I have to buy 2 SESPT's and one patch cord?

TTS used to offer a 2 bike deal, is that still in effect?

PV will go another bike for $200 I hear, I plan to mount it to the LTD, the SGS is getting slip ons only to start, but may go full stg 1 down the road, so will I need 2 harnesses?

I'm looking for real guys experiences, which would you choose, and why kind of things. The cost really isn't much of an issue, unless we're talking a grand for one setup vs. 500 bones for another.

I appreciate your thoughts...

I recommend the PV for the simple reason you don't need a PC to make changes. You can install 6 different maps 3 for each bike or 5 for 1 and 1 for the other. You can get it with the extra licenses also. You can use it for trouble shooting and reading codes with explanation of what it is and can reset. You can monitor 35 functions such as instant mileage, timing, VE, lambda, spark knock, engine and inlet temp, change speedo, and you can do autotune and save without a pc. You can also do quick tune and change the idle rpms on the fly. I have used the SEPST, TTS, PV, PCV, and all will work. PCV is an add on and won't work on two. A single PV is about the price of a single SEPST with cable. SEPST only one bike and have to use PC to change anything, and won't change speedo. TTS about same as PV and can be on two bikes and does speedo, but has to use PC to change.

Only have experience with the Power Vision so my comments are only in regard to using the PV and no experience of the other brands so not commenting on which is better. Bought mine when I owned an '11 Fat Bob, then Dad crashed his bike so traded it and got a '09 Tri Glide for him and few months later a '13 SG for me so used on three bikes so far and since the auto tune was updated its really easy to use. I bought mine from a vendor for a good bit cheaper them FM but I live in Vegas and Dynojet is on the north end of town so customer service was not in the equation.

Yes you will have to buy an additional bike license for $200 to use it on a second bike but not real complicated. You email DJ with info from your tuner and after purchase of second license they email you a code and you enter it into the tuner and it will marry to the other bike you try to program http://www.dynojet.com/powervision/p...-programs.aspx

As far as cable both bikes being 2014's should use the same 6 pin CAN BUS cable so you could buy just one cable if your not planning on mounting the tuner to either bike.

As far as using the PV you can

a. plug the tuner in to either bike on the side and flash a downloaded MAP to the ECM then unplug the tuner and ride

b. plug the tuner into either bike and either flash a tune or load up auto tune function and start datalog and with cable just plugged into side panel stash tuner in saddlebags or ??? if you don't want to buy a mount. Before you shut off the bike save new MAP to the tuner and flash new MAP whenever you want. Not ideal IMO cause can't see tuner and not my idea of a good way to carry it with you on a ride.

c. get a mounting system and a cable for each bike (I opted for the Dynojet handbar mounts with visor, because I like it better and have the tweeter pod kits, ran the cables under the seat and tank and through stock wiring zip ties on handlebars on both the SG and Tri Glide) and then any time you want to run the tuner on either bike just pop it into the tuner mount and plug it in and run program and tweak to hearts desire

What he said...the above are the reasons that I am running the PV on two bikes. I have used many different tuners in the past, including the TTS. The PV is just easier AND has more features.

All 2014 bikes use 6 pin CAN BUS. 2011 Dyna up use 6 pin. 2012 up Soft tails are 6 pin. 2014 all use 6 pin. The 6 pin is the PV2 and the 4 pin is the PV1. Only difference is the plug. You can have dual bike PV and one bike with 4 pin and other 6 pin with same unit. Just need the extra cable.
