i have a 96 Electra glide. i love the fairing and just purchased a SG and haven't even got the chance to ride it yet.
i say you should get the road king so not too many get the SG and it keeps the value up...
LOL

RKC- quick release windshield, fat white walls, leather bags, cruise control and passing lamps

SG- good looks, stereo, locking bags

see my sig for my choice....

and the reason i went with it is due to not having a 'fixed fairing'... when its 100 degrees, i dont want anything in front of me.

After riding a Fatboy for 6 years, I decided to make a change due to recent 2up riding. Always liked my dads Road King but hated the windshield and the way I felt it affected handling(never rode with one on the Fatboy). Had great deal offered to me on trade so I bought '06 Street Glide without ever riding it. LOVE IT!!! Handles great, love cornering and balanceand I don't feel the fairing effect the front end like the straight up windshields.
P.S. My dad's windshield was cut down 4"s.

Both great bikes without doubt both phenomenal machines, you can't go wrong with either one. I think something also you should keep in mind... how often are you going to be riding and how fussy are you about the conditions forthwith? One of the reasons I traded my road king classic in for an ultra was because I wanted the extra days in a year to ride that having fairing gives you. I feel much more safe riding in somewhat more sketchy weather because the protection you get from the elements. Bang for the buck, I'd get the street glide... but there is something to be said for our history and a bike that sorta brings it all back.

Street Glide for sure. It has the best of both worlds. You can trick it out with everything for comfort or leave it stripped down for the slick look it was designed for. I have no issues with the tunes or hearing them. I just turn it up on the highway and leave it mid way in the city so as to not disturb others (seniors) with the sound of Led Zep or White Zombie. I love the radio, really it was a plus when I bought the bike.
