I have riden a few Road Kings (Classic and Custom) on short stretches (switching bikes). I like the handling of the Custom over the Classic. The wife and I went to the Hawaii State HOG rally last year and rented a Street Glide for 4 days. THAT RIDE IS THE BOMB!!! LOVED THE BIKE! BUT... and this is a BIG but... you MUST change out the seat and add a detachable backrest if you want to wife to ride with you. On the 3rd day, the wife was in tears from the stock seat and 6 hours of riding.
[sm=smiley13.gif]Should I be concerned when he uses "big but" in the conversation about me???? [sm=joke.gif]
I refuse to answer on the grounds that it may incriminate me... AND lead to bodily harm..... MINE!! [sm=joke.gif]

No complaints here...

I have an SG and love the bike but I do sometimes wish I had a RK Custom just to do some mods that can't be done on the SG. The biggest difference is the fairing. Forget about the soft vs hard bags. You can always change that. With the SG you can't remove the fairing. This is the first bike I had with a fairing and it took me a while to get used to it. There are definite pluses and minus. It all comes down to what you want. The fairing is the big choice in my opinion.

Thanks for all the food for thought.

I think I will have to rent a few different bikes before pulling the trigger and making one mine. It's too big of a purchase (for me) to get something I may regret later.

However, if I were a betting man, my money would be on the SG. Stay tuned.

I had a Road King and loved the bike. Then I saw the Street Glide and had to trade the King. The Street Glide handles better to me, it feels like a smaller bike when riding it. The Street Glide for me is the superior bike.

I have an EG and my Dad has an RK Classic. Without a doubt, his bike is kicks *** and gets the well deserved attention. It just looks better. For riding though, the Full Fairing, Tunes, and Hard bags out weigh the looks for me.

You know.. I thought for sure for the longest time that I would go with the SG if I had it to do over, But reading all the posts, and all the nice mods I've done to my FLHRS, I'm not so sure now.

I'm prolly just as torn now as I ever was.

on a side note, When I talked to me salesman a few weeks later and explained i thought i should have bought a SG... his reply was...

....bikes are like Hot Chicks, reguardless of what you got your always gonna look at other ones and wonder...

made sense to me...

GL with your decision... its a bitch... hahaha

originally was torn between EG std and RK std ('04- no SG's yet)
What sold me-
when the stealer took off the windshield in the showroom. It's like having two separate bikes, w/o the windshield it even seems to handle better...(I know it doesn't)
The SG is awesome, wish I could have both !!
BTW- what is the price difference between a SG and RK standard? I know what list prices are, but what is the real price difference?
