I've owned about 10 new bikes, including many first year models. My '14 has had no issues. And I liked the professional way Harley handled the recall. Obviously, I'm not new bike/model risk adverse!

The new Limited is a substantially better bike than the 12 I had. I have done nothing to the new bike, except ride. Frankly, it's great stock. More power and cooler. The other features it shares with the Ultra are great too.

I have been riding Harleys since 1968 and have had 8 in the last 12 yrs. I have never had a sweeter ride than my new 2014 Limited . I am so in love with the way she handles and all the new improvements. If you go with the Ultra you will be missing out. Test ride one and forget the little troubles that they have had and go with it. I have had issues with all the bikes I have owned.

I did demo days on the new bikes twice both days were right around 100*. I test rode the Limited and the CVO limited twice both days. Along with the street glide Special, Utra and CVO Road King. I felt less heat with the Limited's than the rest. However when I stuck my feet out by the crash bars where I would have Hiway pegs. The limited had more heat out there. But less heat felt on my right leg when on the floorboard. All the 2014 bikes I rode had less heat than my 2011. When I got back on my Road Glide it was like riding on top of a furnace.
I'd go for the Limited. Its the way of the future. The water heads are here to stay. I might wait till next year to see if they get the bugs get worked out by then. But I'd wait for the Road Glide anyway.

I have a 2013 ultra limited that I love, but if the 2014 limited was out when I got it that would be my ride. On really hot humid days any heat relief will be appreciated. I live in nh, so the heat isn't as big of an issue, but it still sucks in traffic on hot days.

Go for the Limited. The coolant issues are way overblown here. It was a handful of bikes with various supplier and or dealer setup issues. Notice there has been no recall due to coolant issues. It's really a simple system. I've got 1300 miles on my 2014 Limited with no issues other than the clutch recall (I didn't have any issues with the clutch either, prior or post recall).

Btw, I have the two tone gray/black

Just got my 2014 Limited this week. I've been riding for over 45 years and this is the best I've ever had. Smoothest harley I've ever owned.

So, is the cooling system to cool the rider or just for the exhaust ports?

Missing out on what? I don't think that water cooling makes it handle any better.Either are fine machines, and basically the same.I have an Ultra and could care less about the gps, somehow I have managed to make it all these years without it.Different strokes for different folks, personally I wouldn't trade you if you threw in some spare coolant
