Default please help!

well i am not sure if i may have screwed up or not and need help. I just bought off of ebay brand new screamin eagle exhaust and they don't need end caps. The problem is when they were listed they didn't say anything about being race use only and they look like any other exhaust. So what i thought were standard screamin eagle exhaust appear to be maybe a lot louder. Does anyone have any of these and are they really for race use only or are they your standard performance exhaust. I can't put them on yet as it is still cold here and don't know if i want to because they are in excellent shape and i really don't want to scratch them at all if i should resell them or not.

So if anyone else out there has a pair or knows of anyone who does maybe could tell me if they are loud or maybe louder than Rhineharts? I really don't want to bother putting them on if they are really loud as i ride with my wife and the noise would be to much. They do have baffles but they are welded in. It does say on the box " for race use only"

Try calling a Harley dealer and give them the number and ask for the application.

I am pretty sure all the screaming eagle exhausts are gonna read 'race use only' or something to that effect, just their way of covering their collectives asses with the govt. I have never had any problems with aftermarket exhausts as far as being 'race use only'....I think that nearly all aftermarket exhausts would fall into that category.

Here in Va ANY alteration of the factory exhaust is illegal, but it is not readily enforced.

You can be assured that they are not going to be louder than rineharts, but I can also give ya my .02 cents in that you are going to want to listen to some different bikes that have different makes of slip ons or full exhausts to see what you like, might be cheaper on you in the long run.

My bike had Screaming Eagle 64903-99 slip ons when I bought it. The seller also threw in the original mufflers. After a couple of weeks I switched them just to hear the difference. So now the stock mufflers are on the bike. The other ones are too loud for my taste.
I think the only reason they say "race course only" is because the don't pass the noise laws. But you will find a lot of bikes with much louder pipes than the 64903s. If you hold them up to the light you can see straight through them.
I don't buy into the "loud pipes save lives" argument. People that turn in front of you can't hear you any better and people behind you want to run you over.
If you want to be noticed that bad, ride naked.

Thanks to all that replied I kind of thought maybe they all had that warning because i don't ever remember seeing any touring racers on the track or at the drag strip. I guess i will try them anyway and see how loud they are. I was kind of wondering if all screamin eagle pipes are about the same noise level because if they are then i think i will be happy because they aren't to loud. I did notice that i could see right through the other side and maybe you can on all slip ons not sure as i have never looked at any of the bike.

Any way thanks to you who replied

If you are only changing slip ons you do not need the remap or carb rejet. That would be needed if you changed the air intake set up.

thanks because i no a guy who changed his pipes but i don't believe he did anything else. My question is would it hurt the motor at all if i didn't get the down load from Harley like they suggest. I have heard and don't know if this is true that because i have increase the amount of exhaust going out that the motor would want to take more in and so i should change the air filter to the high flow. This guys bike is running fine but is it doing any damage to the motor?
