Default Shift Linkage Ends

I have an 05 CV0 FLHTC and have the HD billet shifter rod. I noticed 1 end is getting worn(ball) .I called my HD dealer and HD makes no replacement ends.I can buy after market and want to know what will fit. I know Pro One makes a set of ends that have 5/16 fine threads. Just want to be sure they are correct size or anything else that would work.

Just a standard Heim joint...get one with the right threads...available from OSH, or commercial fastener supply houses, or McMaster-Carr. I think I'd try again with OEM, though, I believe those are available...

Yes, Heim joints, the stock shifter rod ends will break in time on all Harleys, is one of the first things I replaced on my bike when I bought it.

Be sure to be careful what you get. They make numerous types of these. Most are designed way to close a tolerance to work. First set I got where chromed, but bearings were way too tight. I took them back off and used valve lapping past to try and free them up. Spun them 1/2 hour in my drill press before giving up. Before you buy them, try the bearing. It should be free to pivot. Maybe not loose but not tight. Then I found a set that were polished SS with the bearings actually loose, no shake but loose. They worked great. Think they were designed for a sail boat since I got them at a marine shop. My OEM Softail is 5/16-24 right hand fine thread. My Yamaha VStar Custom has one that is lefthand..handy but not necessary

I got mine from http://www.midwestcontrol.com/
They have them in stainless in just about any configuration you want.
The thread should be 5/16-24

McMaster-Carr has high quality stainless steel ones. I think they were around $12 for two a few years ago and they worked perfectly. I polished off the casting marks and they looked like chrome. 5/16-24 threads.
