Like most new '14 SGS owners ... looking for a replacement set of muffler pipes/slip ons to give it that Harley sound. Although I don't think stock is horrible, still doesn't have the rumble I want.
I have read if you just replace the mufflers you don't need the electronic gizmo for an additional couple hundred bucks to regulate the exhaust compression. Is that true?
It also seems pretty simple..remove a couple bolts, slide out mufflers and install the new ones...
Anyone have any recommendations for the '14 SGS .. tips .. etc.
Much appreciated.
I've got the 4" Rinehart slip-ons on my 2014 Limited. A nice deep rumble without being obnoxious. WAY better than stock. Your bike will sound like a Harley. As long as you don't change the AC, you will not have to adjust the ECM. Just bolt them on and go! It is that simple.
Thanks for the opinions. I know slip ones aren't as good as a total replacement .. But after plopping down the $$ for the '14, a total replacement will need to wait.
I would suggest saving up and buy both the head pipes and slip ons at the same time. I went to Fuel Moto and couldn't be happier. Got rid of the heat and has a nice rumble that isn't obnoxious. Call Jamie at Fuel Moto and he'll hook you up anyway you want to go. Just my opinion.

go to fullsac.com and look at their sportpipe. its a good economical way to get rid of the cat. its basically a stock headpipe that has had the plenum cut out and a new one welded in, then ceramic coated. supposed to make within 1-2 hp of their full headpipe on the dyno, and much cheaper.
Not sure about the 14s but 10 and up get a nice little bump in sound just buy boring, gutting cutting the catalytic converter out of the head pipe. The stock head pipe on these bikes is actually a really good design hampered only by the catalytic converter in the collector. The converter doesn't even effect performance only sound and heat.I like American Customs they look like your stock mufflers but the sound and back pressure is tunable by drilling more holes in their removable baffles.
