Default Freakin cold

Rode my bike to work yesterday and returned home this morning from the firehouse. I leave at 0515 so it's dang cold this morning, about 26 here in Dallas. I had heated riding jacket and gloves by Gerbing, neck warmer, leathers and helmet with bubble face shield. I only had to go about thirty miles but wow I still got cold. My eyes were watering and various parts were still very cold.

Maybe at 50 I'm becoming a big Puss! How cold temps do others out there consistently ride in?

I would think your tolerance would be relative to what you're used to and the equipment you have to apply to the issue. I ride often for pleasure in 30ish degrees as long as it's dry. I don't have heated gear. Below 40 I stop commuting on the bike because I don't want to wear all the extra gear to work. 35°, or less sometimes, on the weekends, is fine. If I didn't, the bike would sit for three or four months and I'd go nuts.

A firefighter at 50? You ain't no puss.

If it is under 40 degrees, I don't ride. Both of my knees are arthritic and the cold air on them amplifies the issue causing me issues when I put my feet down at stops. Getting old sux but it is better than the alternative.....

I rode 150 miles last Spring in the mid 20s in central Utah and that is about as cold as I care to ride. The full face helmet and heated seat came in handy on the CVO Ultra. Going 75 MPH while the temp is 25 will wake you up in the morning. SJ Ron

It gets into the thirties here in the morning and I still ride to work layered up.Lined hoodie, leather jacket and over-pants,wool socks and heated grips. Ditch that open face helmet, a bubble shield will not keep the cold air out anywhere near as well as a new full face.one of the reasons I like commuting on the Limited is I have plenty of room to stow all the extra gear in the afternoon when I don't need it.

It was 19 degrees this morning in Colorado. It was a chilly ride, but it's going to be so worth it this afternoon when it warms up to 55 degrees!!!!

Yesterday morning it was 20 degrees and I rode to work. Have a heated jacket liner and heated gloves. My fingertips still get a bit cold but other than that I stay toasty. Half helmet and balaclava and I'm good to go. Was 12 degrees this morning and I puss'd out and drove the truck.

It was 18 for the ride in this morning. Ski mask and a thick jacket. With the heated grips on 2 I didn't even turn my heated gloves on. Only 15 miles to work helps too.
It should be 35 for the ride home.
