Default Trident Paint Protection ?

I normally wouldn't spend the money for something like this, but I'm sending my Limited in for storage and I've gotta spend $299.00 sometime over the winter and then storage is basically free.

Don't really need anything for the bike.

Dealer offers Trident Paint Protection for $349.00 and that includes a full detail, and buffing out a couple scratches/scuffs on the Saddlebags. Supposedly protects the paint and makes the bike easier to clean.

Price doesn't seem too bad, anyone have any experience with Trident?

Make certain it doesn't contain silicone...if it does, you will play hob painting that thing should you ever need or want too...causes 'fisheyes'...sometimes the fisheye eliminator paint additives work, sometimes they don't...dost

Thanks, didn't even think of that. I am thinking about paint or pinstripe in the future, think I'm gonna hold off on the Trident.

I found this....maybe it will help.....

http://www.tridentprotectionsystems.com

Trident utilizes the latest in synthetic and nanotechnology to provide the most advanced surface protection.

> Trident bonds with the surface to provide protection that lasts up to 5 years

> Trident does not wash off or melt off like other products

> Trident creates a smoother surface that resists dirt build up and makes routine maintenance easier

> Trident allows light to reflect more evenly, creating a brighter shine

Trident utilizes advanced stain repellents and UV inhibitors to protect interior surfaces.

> Prevents water and oil-based stains

> UV inhibitors prevent fading

> Easier clean-up

> Extends the life of interior surfaces

Paint protection IMHO is a waste of $$. It's a good profit center for the dealership. We always referred to it as "Mop-n-Glow" and with fabric protection "Fluff-n-Buff".

talldog i have always thoughts paint protection on cars was a rip off never thought about it on my bike . add a few more lights to tour pack or something, get your monies worth for the free winter storage i am adding the led things across the back of my tour pack and last year i did the led lights in the mirror with the fairing lighting as well. More lights might keep u alive

Seeing how this is an old thread, I just received info from a dealer that will install this Trident coating to my TG free (a $349 value) if I purchase the prepaid customer service plan by next month. I have already purchased a plan from another dealer, but this dealers plan is 3 times better and cheaper, so getting the plan is already a done deal for me.

I have read a lot of posts on other forums not to waste my money on it, but what if it was FREE!! What would you do? Still not get it or get it since it's free???

I'm thinking why not get it and then put the 3M film on top of that.... double protection.

I hate to say no to somthing free.

What say you???

HDV-Glide, $300 sure buys a ton of wax, but what about all the hours of labor I would save having to do all the waxing?

On another note - I read an article about carnuba wax(all wax's???) It said wax was a waste of money if you lived in a hot climate. They did some tests on cars parked out in the sun and the temps were arount 288* and they said wax melts at just under 280* so all the wax on these cars was melting away and leaving the cars unprotected.
I never thought about wax melting before. Now I'm wondering if I am wasting money/time waxing my vehicles.
Opinions anyone???

I used to be in the body shop business-I wouldn't take any "paint protector" -even for free.
