Touring wheels
Is there a definitive way to tell what wheel someone istrying to sell you?? Part number or code cast into it somewhere?? Looking for a cast wheel for an 06 RK...he likes the fatboy style, but I'm told needs to be off a 2000, 01, or 02 only... Thanks, Darkside..

Not that I know of. You need a sealed ball-race wheel from a 2000-2007 bike. Earlier wheels have tapered roller bearings and will not bolt in (for several reasons). If you are looking at softail wheels be aware they can be made to fit, but also do not bolt in. The reason is that your 2006 touring bike has 1" bearings, while the contemporary softail wheels have 3/4" bearings. The bearings themselves are inter-changeable, but the hole through the hub needs to be bored larger, to take the larger diameter bearing spacer required for 1" bearings.
