I'm installing the rider headset cable and CB module (comm cable, part# 69200865) on a 2014 Street Glide. I've ordered a service manual as no local dealer had one in stock, the dealer was no help as they haven't installed one yet.
The directions state:
2. Remove seal pin from cavity 12 of P&A connector [280](2).
3. Install the pin end of the ground wire into cavity 12 of P&A connector [280].
I got a magnifying glass and saw that where the black wire is (top right with lettering), that is cavity 12. So now the question is do I remove the black wire or not install it at all? I don't believe this can be pushed in there in addition to the existing black wire. This is a ground wire that screws to the back of the radio unit.
If they mean cavity 12 of the connector end already on the bike that could be done but would be useless as the corresponding connector on the cable is blank so it would ground nothing.
First picture is the plug showing the black wire in cavity 12. Second picture is the ground plug you are supposed to put there. Third picture you can see the 2 plugs (tan/black) and the little nub to the right of the white am/fm antenna connector where this ground wire connects to the back of the radio unit.
Any help is appreciated, I'm stumped.....not that I know much about wiring anyway.
OK, after giving this more thought it's possible that the ground wire goes into the connector already on the bike, cavity 12 on that side does have a plastic plug in it and it would mate with the comm cable black wire...although I'm just guessing.
Now the question is how do you remove the plastic plug? It's in there tight and I'd rather not break it off.
I looked at the SM. P&A Audio connector 280A shows it's blank for both the [2014 Touring (Except FLHX/S)] and the [2014 Touring (FLHX/S)] wiring schematics. Both schematics show black wires to pins 3 (microphone common) & 10 (ground) on Connector 280A, the P&A Audio connector. Sounds like your 2nd post is correct.
Edit: There should be a small retaining tang on the plastic plug. Inserting a small tool (jeweler screwdriver) on the correct side of the plug should allow the tang to be released & the plug removed. Good Luck!
Many thanks Hammz! The more I thought about it the more it made sense to put the wire there. I found a good video on how to pull/put wires in those (deutch) connectors on youtube after a bit of searching. I was able to get the plastic plug out finally and installed the ground wire and put everything back together. So now to get it in for the radio flash.
I greatly appreciate you taking the time to look that up!
im adding the cable to my 2014 sg today wondering the same thing my connect isn't marked? I have to look close with reading glasses but did you remove tank to get wire towards rear of bike

This is correct. That part is called a Molex conn. There are instructions in the back of the repair manuals
You use the proper tool and push it in to the adjoining hole next to that white pin, the pin slides out, then slide the black wire conn in. Do not take the assembly apart, do not try and do it with out the proper tool. It can get away from you quickly if done wrong

Anyone have a schematic that describes all of the wires going into the CB connector? Looking to develop an isolation circuit to add a second two-way radio to the bike. I don't have the service manual (yet). I assume the description of the pinout of that connector is in the service manual? Thanks!
