I've got a Schumacher tender, which I bought when I got my '07 Road Glide in 2011.
The tender is always on the bike when it's parked.
As far as I know, the battery is still the original, now six years old.
Up until last winter, I always took the battery out of the bike for the winter, and put it in the basement, charging it periodically. But last winter I decided to leave the battery -in- the bike, and just leave it hooked up to the tender from December to March. The garage is unheated, too.
I took the cover off last spring, tightened up the plugs, disconnected the tender, and the bike started right up as if winter had never happened.
The Schumacher seemed to work well enough for me....
Thanks for all the answers and opinions friends. I found a pigtail from the CTek site and ordered it thru Jegs. Will let me plug the CTek 3300 to the Harley pigtail that's already on the bike. Found out that I can select .8 Amp or 3.3 Amp to charge the battery. Constant amperage till it hits 14.4 volts, then goes into constant voltage with a tapering down amperage. Worked well on my previous ultra.
I use the Harley ones mostly. The dealer always gives them to me when I buy a bike. I think I have four now, 2 in use and 2 new in the package. I also use a Battery Tender Jr. for my truck when I'm gone for long periods of time. I think the Battery Tender Jr. is 10 years old...it still works fine.
Nothing works like my Ctek's. Totally dead truck battery - within 5 minutes, the ctek has sent enough to the battery to start the truck.
Totally dead bike battery - usually within 3 minutes, same story.
I have 3 Ctek's and they have endured since 2007, 2008, and 2009. Once of them travels with me on trips and has well over 250,000 miles on he bouncing around in the bike or in the trailer being pulled by the bike.
My next battery charger will be another ctek.
I only wish they offered a multi bank system to my liking. Would be nice to be able to have a central charger that could maintain all my batteries. Lawnmowers, bikes, ATV, tractor, etc...

Year round I use an expensive GYStech 3800 on the Harley and a cheaper Chinese version of the C-tek on my truck/car during the winter. Both work well and have a price ratio of 5:1.
The build and connections of the GYStech look less experimental but in the end, who knows
