Default Seat heater question

I'm sending my seat to Mean City Cycles to have them modify it, and I'm going to have them put a seat heater in there while they're at it. The options for the switch to control the heater are: (a) have them install the switch right on the side of the seat, or (b) go with no switch from them and instead use one of the fairing mounted accessory switches, which I would obviously have to do once the seat is returned to me. So I figured I would throw it out there and see what you all think. I'm leaning towards "b," but I'm open to any other suggestions as well. TIA...

The seats that come with the heat built in usually have separate controls for rider and passenger. They also usually have multiple heat settings. If you use a fairing mounted switch are you just going to have 1 on/off switch for the whole seat and no control of the level of heat?

The heater I'm looking at only has 1 position, it's just on/off. So temp control isn't an issue.

I have two heated seats that were both modded by MCC.
A solo seat as well as a two-up factory HD seat and both have
the switches on the left side of the seat. I prefer it that way so
as to not have to run more wiring for that acc. switch on the fairing.

Thanks for the reply. Two more questions for you: how did you power your seat heater(s) once they came back from MCC and are you happy with the work they did? Thanks.

Looking forward to hear how you like the work Mean City Cycles did. My ultra seat is starting to come apart at one of the seams and I've been thinking of sending it there.

Very happy with my seats, as you can see in the 2-up pic
the switches are on my left side and the gray gator they put
in the center panels for me. The solo seat pic is before they
modded it with heater and memory foam. It appears almost
the same now externally but with black gator panel around
the back of it.

I have been more than pleased with their work and can ride
multiple days with no butt-burn. I powered the heaters with
the piggyback fuse system supplied with the return from them
modding/installation of the heater. run inside the frame to the
fuse box on the bike.

Allen is great at what he does and his people have been polite
and helpful the couple of times I used them.

I had a seat heater put in my seat and a mod from mean city on my deluxe. I will be doing the samw thing on my bf's sg which I now ride more than my own bike most of the time. Their work was impecable. I got a switch put on the left side of my seat and only have the on/off type heater. Didn't go for the extra stages of heat and don't need it. It makes a huge difference riding. It keeps my my legs completely warm.
Those guys do amazing work!! Good choice
