Security Module
Lets say I was kicking around the idea of trading my 09 Classic for a new,leftover 13 Classic.The 13 doesn't have security.Can I remove the security module from my 09 and put it in a new bike?

sure you can. but it isn't just a simple swap. it has to be flashed by the dealer.
otherwise, an aspiring thief could just unplug your security module and replace it with a regular tsm and ride off.....

You can do marry it yourself but you will need both bikes available to do the swap, there is a procedure in the manual to marry the TSSM to the bikes computer, not hard just takes time, about an hour to walk thru the procedure. You'd have to swap the TSSM's between the two bikes then go thru the procedure for each one. I found a used TSM (non alarm) off Ebay and swapped out my TSSM (alarm) on my old bike and performed the procedure, then when I got the new bike just pulled the TSM and installed my TSSM and went thru the procedure again, if that makes sense..

Thanks NEVETS61,man there's nothing you can't find here,always someone willing to help out.You are right Mike,we are gonna have an interesting weekend here,rain,freezing rain and snow.We already have 10" on the ground from the 2 weather events(storms,to us old guys..lol.) this week.

Good Deal "Nevets61" I'll have to read through this,,, My 2013 did not have the FOB security either,,, the dealer said I could buy one for $324 but they would have to install it & set it up,,, which would be another $92 labor... I do plan on buying a new Security Module.

Just to be clear, dansflhti can do his without dealer intervention since his is only being moved from one bike to another, FOB's are already programmed to the TSSM. If you purchase the TSSM and FOB's and install yourself you will still need to take to the dealer to have the FOB's programmed to the TSSM, cost will be much lower this way but just want you to be aware that there is still dealer intervention on a "NEW" install over simply moving the system from one bike to another.
