Default New Cables / Ape Install

Ok everyone,

wife got me 14" Chrome 1 1/2 Malo bars from Buky for Xmas. These are going on a 04 Road Glide. Going from Heritage type bars that are approx 8 to 14 means i will be replacing all the cables (throttle/return) clutch, and brake lines, not to mention extending the wires for the electrical.

My question is what are your experiences with replacement cables. I knowI am going to have to go approx 8" over stock. My question is what brand or supplier.

I have checked out, Drag, J&P, and Magnum. Magnum seems to have the better selection, Drag seems to have the better price. J&P, only list Barnett, and i have zero experience with them.

Looking for dependability, Figured i could go either way (black stock type or braided) just looking for feedback based on real world usage.

thanks

I would keep it simple and go non braided as well as go with Barnett. To extend the wiring I bought a spool of 18 guage wire and soldered them staggered in the middle finishing with heat shrink. LAChoppers has a how to video that went fast but answered a lot of questions for me. Get yourself a Molex pin tool (on ebay $15) as it will make it much much easier. Take your time and make Molex color wiring diagrams of every connector you take a part.

I bought Magnum black lines. I've had no issues and from what they told me they are the same company that makes Harley lines.

The Sterling Chromite has a thin plastic cover. It will scuff easy ow wear through. When it does, you get moisture between the cover and line. They didn't warranty mine and I was within six months of purchase with a receipt...I'd go elsewhere...

Those 1.5" Bukys are saweeet! Personally, I'd go with Barnett cables. Goodridge lines.

Highly recommend www.HDbikeparts.com as they offer complete kits with everything u need. Owner (Johnny) is very helpful.
