Default Stock head pipe?....no sound!

I have the V&H monster rounds and they suck for sound. I think it is going to be the same for any slip on if you dont open up the head pipe or remove the kitty.

As has been noted, sound is VERY subjective. There are numerous threads of those complaining that things are too loud with the cat removed. I have the Rinehart 4" slip ons on my stock head pipe, 2014 Limited. I'm happy with the sound quality and level. A nice deep sound that is not obnoxious when touring long hours.

I was considering changing out the head pipe to a fuel moto 2-1-2 for performance, and to a lesser extent heat, issues. After recently hearing a de-cated head pipe with the same 4" Rineharts, I'm afraid I may regret the increase in volume if I go that route. I still have the rest of the winter months to contemplate that choice.

More proof as to the subjectivity of "good sounding pipes". I have the 4" Jack Pots and absolutely hate them for touring. But then my bike is not stock either. The cams do make it louder and they are too loud for me!

Yeah, the 255 cam doesn't play well with the 4" Jackpots sound-wise. Way too loud for me.

Best advice I got when looking was to go to a few Bike Nights and listen to different bikes and see what you like.

I went with the SE 4" street Cannon's on my 14 Limited. I really like the sound. I also like the fact that they are stamped EPA sound complyent. I added the ventilator A/C and stage one flash. Runs strong, sounds great and is warranty compliant. My only issue is the length. They are about 2" longer than I prefer.

Good luck. Congratulations on the 14. They are great bikes.

The best sounding slipons bar none are the ones you think sound the best.

Go to bike night, go to rallies, go to dealerships, listen to them all. You'll find what you're looking for and you'll do it without the help of all of us who think we know what's best for you.

Ultra is right. Whatever YOU find to be best are the best ones. Loud doesn't always equate to "best". The VH High Output pipes (with the step in the middle) are very loud and throaty when you gun it. VH will tell you that they are for "larger builds" so unless you're running a 107 and up, you may lose some low to middle range torque. Personally I like the Monster Rounds on my bike, but I went with different headers than stock. A friend ran fishtails on his Softail Classic and they are sound tremendous. Thunderous even. You can spend hours online watching videos, but 10 different video cameras will sound differently...as will your computer speakers. You'll have to stalk other bikes out in the service departments or catch a bike night to find what best suits your needs. That is the only real way to tell.

The stock pipe, if with cat, chokes your bike's performance and makes it run hotter. I equate it to running a marathon with a sock in your mouth. The header pipe will make a difference in sound as well. The "power dual" versus dressers....it goes on and on. Welcome to hell in figuring it all out. There are as many opinions are there are variables.
