What about the locks and hardware? Did you replace using HD's. I'm strongly looking at the Mutsua tour paks. The doenfall as I understand are inferior locks.

I haven't had a chance to actually use it yet as I just mounted it yesterday. Just from looking it over quick though, the locks and hinges do look a little cheap. When I get a chance, I will compare them side by side to my bros. He has the exact same bike but with the factory tour pack.

Not sure exactly what he was referring to but I plan on just getting a peice of sheet metal and drilling the holes. It will be cheaper than buying a pre fab piece I'm sure.

Another side note... I got the "2nd" one for 299.00. That means it has some minor paint flaw. I didn't look it over with a fine tooth comb and magnifying glass but i didn't notice any defects. I think the normal price is 60-70.00 more. I wasn't worried about it because my bike's sit out in the weather and get ridden year around. Generally the only time they get washed is when I ride in the rain.

Here is one like I'm talking about, it secures inside the tourpack on the bottom and provides s more sturdy base to put stuff on. They also have a black rubber mat that covers the metal plate. If you look at a stock tour pack without a liner inside under the mat will be one of these plates.

I think that plate is aluminum, not steel.

I think I'd rather make one for about 5.00 but if it's aluminum that would be good for less weight.

The trunk I got did come with a rubber mat as well.

I bet it is, couldn't remember what it was made out of. But you see what the main idea is, and could very easily be made if you have the means. I think when I got mine from eBay it was $10 shipped so it was reasonable for me to just buy it. Been meaning to find a shop that could cut me a piece of diamond plated metal to put on the bottom of the pack between the detachable hardware and the tour pack for a little more added strength.
