The black is a ground wire, the orange white is for the 5 watt position light on the Euro spec models.

don't know about the batwing bikes, but on my roadglide that wire is for the cool little bar and shield lights on the daymakers that light up with the acc.

Excellent, thanks Dawg. Nice to see that it works just fine off that unused cable...I'll use the same connection points myself. By the way, I sent you a PM with additional questions about what you did with all the other cables integrated into the main cable that don't get used.

I looked all over the headlight loom of wires for that empty black wire you mentioned. On my bike, it was actually inside the main plastic loom about 1/8" back from the slit opening. Grabbed some needle nose pliers, and four inches of slack came out. Makes it even easier to grab a ground now!

I solder the wires on the cig lighter wires it works with the ignition switch only. Just make sure when you remove the gps to wash the bike not to get the harness wet or it will blew a fuse.
