I have a 2004 Road King (FLHRCI) I want an Audio system so Iinstalled one of those Windshield mounted speaker systems well for me it justdidnt cut it. A friend of mine also hasRoad King with a Fairing equipped with a stereo system. He loves it. It sounds and looks good. I havebeen doing a lot of research on which one to buy. I had decided on the Kuryakyn Air Master fairingbut now that I have the money to buy one Kuryakyn stopped selling them ugg. So I am now back looking at fairings again.
I am interested to know if anyone has an opinion on which fairingto get. I have looked at Dragonfly,Hoppe, Memphis Shades, Kuryakyn.
Helped a good buddy with his RK. He went with a dead center fairing ( 4 speakers) and we did the tunes with an Alpine head unit, in line Alpine amps ( small and powerful and 4 Polk speakers. System is very clean, and loud. He could ride at any speed and hear the tunes perfectly. I liked the dead center because it was easy to get on and off, but locked so thieves could not take it easily. The quality and ease of install of the Alpine head unit and inline amp solution was great. He sold the RK for a 14 Ultra, but he ran that setup for several years and it never gave him and issue.
I had a fairing on my Road King that was built by a local fiberglass guy in Phoenix. I found him on Craigslist. Keep that in mind, there may be some local guys in your area that do this. Overall, I saved about $700 by doing it that way.
That said, I originally really wanted a fairing from Wide Open Customs. Check them out. Good luck with your search.
The Memphis Shades is a windshield shaped like a fairing, works well for what it is but no inner to mount anything.
The Dead Center , Hoppe, Reckless and Dragonfly are all good. Ive seen a few Dead Center in my area and they are great.
Only thing with the RK fairings is to get the angle correct otherwise they look like they sit to high and point up. The Dead Center Ive seen seem to be some of the best fitting
If you do a search on this you will find 1000's of posts.
I have a Deadcentre and love it.
Search the forum for Dragonfly then run the other direction.
I have a reckless fairing on my 04 road king. It is color matched. I ordered it with the infinity Bluetooth head unit, 6x9 infinity speakers and Rockford Fosgate amp. Can hear it at 75 mph on freeway.
There's a link in my signature that may help. I also wrote more details about why I selected the DC fairing over the others in a separate thread. I don't know which thread it is, you may find it in your searches.
