Yes there is a newer designed one. Missed it by one year!
Yeah, well, they need a better quick connect o-ring setup on the bottom of my gas tank (CVO in my sig pic). It leaked yesterday when I was preparing to ride in nice weather, but couldn`t when I discovered the leak. I pulled off the male fitting and put a small amount of silicone grease around the groove in which the center o-ring mates. This nearly stopped the leak, so I can ride the bike to the dealer to get it fixed. They will have to drain the tank to replace the quick connect fitting; no way to get to the o-rings in that fitting.
I would pay the $50 and let the dealer put a new one in there, and have them check the comp while there in there. Or anything else that might be covered? I don't have the ESP so I used the Silicone method and it's been fine for a couple years.
Thanks for all the comments, I have an apt for next week. Talked to the Service Mgr, they'll check everything else while they are in the primary. I replaced the compensator to a SE version 2 yrs ago, maybe it will be worn by now and get that replaced as well.
My 07 had that issue took it in under ESP and total repair bill was close to a grand. SE compensator, stator and IPB and few other things were replaced since then I bought 5 more years of ESP.
I had the same problem on my '07. But by then the ESP was long gone so oil resistant black rtv worked great. Drove me crazy trying to figure out where the leak was.
Good decision, you paid how much for your esp? Might as well try to get some back out of it!
I paid $1450 for a 5 yr ESP, that included wheel and tire coverage.
So far I have had two rear tires replaced due to nails and now the stator.
I am right about $1300 into it now, I would say it was a good investment for me. Especially since I am putting miles on the bike, 40k and counting.
