Default 2014 Compensator

Having moved up from a 2005 FLHRP to a 2014 Ultra Limited, the amount of travel on the compensator seems too much. Anybody else feel the same?

Default Compensator travel

What makes you feel it has too much travel? I rented a 2014 Ultra this summer and I didn't feel anything wrong with the compensator.

Are you talking about compensator travel or clutch travel?

I'm interested in what "compensator travel" means too. I think the OP does mean clutch travel. Right?

The term compensator is used in at least two places on the bike…the device in the primary…and the rubber IDS compensator inside the rear wheel. You are referring to which?

He must mean the clutch? I don't think it is realistic to be able to feel compensator travel in a brand new bike...

sounds like he's talking about the slop you feel in the compensator when getting on and off the gas. this is one of the first things i noticed when i rode a 07 later bike. alot more slop in it compared to my 92 heritage or my buddys 03 road king.

Default compensator noise

It's the compensator. The length of "travel" before it locks in. Yes it is when you get on the throttle and when you back off, but also when it lugs at slow speed

Yes, also when you're at slow speed it lugs because of it and I need more gas to keep it engaged.

Find the friction zone on your clutch and you won't have those issues at slow speed anymore. Always keep power to that rear wheel and the bike will stand up and not lurch. At least that's what I do.
