Default Winterizing

I'm sure it been beaten to death here, but...... Do any of you guys winterize? I'm in Kansas, many winter is certainly here. In the past I've just topped off, stabilized the fuel and ran her for a bit every now and then, and shifted through 1st and 2nd and rolled it a few feet in the garage to keep the primary and trans fluid moving a little. I also kept the tender plugged in.

On my ATV and dirt bikes in the past, we just topped off, stabilized, ran some fogging oil in the intake and waited till spring. I've never winterized any of my Harley's, but I'm new to this kind of winter with them (Army has always kept me in warmer climates)

What's the consensus?

Full tank of gas, Stabil in the tank, cardboard under the tires, battery tender attached, cover it up, leave it alone til April. That's it. (Don't start it up unless you're going out for a ride. If not going out for a ride, it'll be fine until the spring.) Here's where I keep mine. Foyer of a barn. Obviously unheated. Have kept 4 bikes here since 04. Never had a problem.

Thanks! That doesn't sound too scary...... I can assume lots of reasons for the cardboard under the tires, but what's the reason YOU do it? Will an area ruc, or carpet remnant do the same thing? I just installed hardwood floors, got lots of carpeting laying around!

Mine is in a cold garage. No power in there so I took the battery out, Sta-Bil in the full tank, tires up on some 3/4" stock as well as the kickstand. Keeping the bike off of the ground that prevents electrical grounding. Current flow promotes rust. Look up how gun bluing is processed.

Ok..... Now that makes sense.... Got lots of plywood scrap from my flooring project as well! I'm gonna fill the old fuel tank up and stabilize it today, and prop that baby up on some wood..... Great suggestions guys, thanks!

I was gonna put it on a lift, but I read a recent thread where a guys jack failed and his gas tank took a good beating because of the fuel leaking on it, so that's out of the question!

Wonder if my wife would like it in the living room, sort of a conversational piece of furniture?

I also have an unheated garage and mine has been fine in St. Louis weather.

To tell you the truth, I don't know why I put cardboard under the tires. Just because somebody told me I should, one time, I guess! Sure, go with carpet remnants. Might even be better than cardboard. Who knows?!!!!!!
