I guess my question is, has any one plugged a rear tire and if so, were there any problems?
What really sucks is that there is only 5K miles on it.
Lots of people do plug them. I buy a new tire. When you only have two wheels it is more risky to plug a tire.

On my bagger, I'd get a new tire. I had a friend have a plug come out of a tire on the freeway at 80 with his GF on teh back and I was riding right behind him. It was scary. He made it to the side of the highway safely but I would never want to risk that happening to me. Tires are expensive but hospital stays are much more expensive.

Same thing once happened to me at less than 1,000 miles. I put a slime plug in it and road it io the dealer expecting to buy a new tire. The dealer took the tire off and installed a plug that looked like a mushroom from inside the tire. They showed me the plug before remounting and balancing the tire. No problems since. Also, if you look at the Dunlop website, it actually states they are OK with plugs in some situations.

Tires are relatively cheap....I get a hole in one, I may patch it to get home and wait for the replacement tire to come by The Brown Truck, but that's it. I ride too fast and in unison with others who depend on me not to **** up to trust a patch plug, plug, etc.

Ask around and see if you can get a vulcanised plug fitted. That is heat-sealed into the tyre and should prove a lot more effective than a puncture kit plug. Having said that I have only ever 'repaired' my punctured tubeless bike tyres by replacing them. It can hurt financially, but.......

We used those mushrooms in the 70's, they work great.
The sticky plugs used by most shops these days are also good, most cases the right way to go, this seals inside and outside, if caught within 2 weeks or so, the plug works just fine.
No need for a new tire unless you just want to spend money. A screw is not the end of most tires.

I picked up a screw on a road trip and luckily had some stick strip plugs and cheapo air compressor which allowed me to get home for the remaining 400 miles. It held fine but I'd rather get a new tire than take a chance of a highway blowout.

Thanks for all of the reply's guys.
I have a tire plug kit that uses the sticky plug and vulcanizing fluid which I set fire to (briefly) after the install to finish the sealing process. It seems to be holding air fine.
Being winter (not so much here in Florida), I have no plans for any long trips so I think I will just ride it locally until the replacement gets here. I have the tools to replace the tire so at least I wont have to make an appointment or some such silliness!!!
I am with all that suggested how inexpensive a tire is in relation to being in the hospital, or worse.
Thing is; the ole lady is pissed cause I wont let her ride with me till I get a new one.
To bad the '95 has smaller tires. I keep a few in the garage cause the 113 likes to smoke-em-up.
Hell its only money, I cant take it with me!!!

+1 for Ride On. I have it in both tires, but I have yet to get a puncture. However, you need to see the video on their website.
