Default Screw in rear tire

Was changing the oil on the truck yesterday and while laying on the ground, I noticed a screw in the rear tire of my SG.
I have patched and plugged many car/truck tires and never gave it much thought but, I plugged the tire and am having second thoughts about riding it.
I guess my question is, has any one plugged a rear tire and if so, were there any problems?
What really sucks is that there is only 5K miles on it.

that hurts... My brother (in Europe) had 1500miles on his front one and decided to replace it. It was BARELY leaking air....
two weekd ago I found one in my rear tire and took it out and no air leak (pff

some do plug them without any issues, some just simply won't.
keep in mind, you are not in a car...

if I would plug I would do it inside out with an umbrella type plug (sorry, do not know the correct word for it).

Google "Ride-On Tire Sealant & Balancer". You may want to try this. I had a piece of wire in my rear tire over a year ago and put this sealant in it. No problem. Will be putting a new tire on this spring because this on is wore out.

I've plugged them before (have tubed tires now-Sucks)

As long as the plug isn't on the sidewall, you should be OK.

When I am on a vehicle that only has two wheels I tend to air on the side of caution. I did however when I was younger and ride much lighter bikes plug many tires successfully with a plug kit from teh auto parts store.

On my bagger, I'd get a new tire. I had a friend have a plug come out of a tire on the freeway at 80 with his GF on teh back and I was riding right behind him. It was scary. He made it to the side of the highway safely but I would never want to risk that happening to me. Tires are expensive but hospital stays are much more expensive.

How quickly do you heal?

With that said..... I'd get a new tire.

I would never trust a FRONT tire with a plug, but if the hole was fairly small I'd feel OK with it in the rear tire. As was stated above a patch plug done with the tire removed is the safest repair if you can find someone willing to do the repair. A lot of dealers won't do it because of liability issues, damn lawyers & insurance companies. All you're going to get are opinions, and everybody has one, but I would ride it. It's not going to be a blow-out if the plug fails, it will go down reasonably slow, no worse than running over something and having the tire go flat that way. It all comes down to your peace of mind, if you're going to be worried it about whenever you're riding you better just replace it so you can enjoy the ride.

Plug it or patch it then install an inner-tube so you can run the remaining miles out of the tire. Done this many times with no problems whatsoever.

I have many times with no problems and if the pressure holds steady just ride it and check the pressure regularly. If it wont hold the pressure and you got to keep adding air, you'll need to replace it. Odds are it will hold just fine. I use these, but have used the grease plugs successfully. Needless to say if it's in the sidewall don't do it.
