My PV has been on 3 bikes. It ain't blowing up sh*t. He's just trying to get you to use the tried and true SERT they are used to. You don't even need him to tune it. You will get the map you need from Dynojet. Just connect, marry the bike, and flash it. Done. Sheesh!
I agree. I bought my Power Vision for my '14 SGS from Fuel Moto and I love it. It was easy to install and it works flawlessly, without dyno charges. My '05 Road King had a SERT and my dealership wouldn't tune it without a Dyno.
One last question. Do I still need to do a stage one download at the dealer even with the Power Vision being installed?
No. The Power Vision will re-flash the ECM just as a Stage 1 download does and I am sure with a much better tune. I understand Stage 1 downloads are still on the lean side to meet EPA compliance. With the correct Power Vision map your bike will be running stronger, cooler and most importantly it will not be running lean.
I think the mechanic is full of sh*t. My HD dealership tried to tell me they wouldn't do ANY warranty work if I had a tuner connected - guy didn't have a clue that the PV is a flash tuner and not a piggyback module ...
I ordered my Power Vision a little while ago for my 14 SG after which I text my mechanic who works at a dealership and does work on the side said he will not install my PV. Said i should have gotten the SERT cuz he's seen motors blow up with these tuners. The bike is and will remain stock aside from D&D exhaust and the Stage 1 air cleaner. Should I cancel my order?
I have done 3 maps for 14 SG's with D&D and stage 1. Go to the Dynajet website and download and install the software for the PV. After installing the software go to the Powervision program under start Programs menu and do the Update Client. If you have or when it comes in hook the PV to the computer and run the update client. It will tell you to hook it up even if it is hooked up. Follow the instructions as to which ones get updated first. It will put all the new maps in and do the latest firmware updates. Even if from FM need these updates. You will likely have some decel pop with the canned map. This is easily fixed. The 3 that have been done all run awesome. Even if you install the map that comes on the unit, the map I am sending will improve performance and no pop. Nothing to loose can always swap back if you don't like. Went ahead and attached map. Once you get software installed all you have to do is unzip and click on it and it will open in Win/PV just have Win/PV closed first. The only difference between PV1 and PV2 is the 1 is 4 pin plug and the 2 is 6 pin.
Here is map with corrected injector size.
