I ordered my Power Vision a little while ago for my 14 SG after which I text my mechanic who works at a dealership and does work on the side said he will not install my PV. Said i should have gotten the SERT cuz he's seen motors blow up with these tuners. The bike is and will remain stock aside from D&D exhaust and the Stage 1 air cleaner. Should I cancel my order?
No EFI "tuner" will cause your motor to blow up... that is unless its programmed way too lean & you run it until it melts down. But it is still not the units fault, its the programming. Id guess its because he's a HD mech & prefers the HD SERT vs other tuners.
If anything, maybe cancel your current order (you didnt state where you purchased it) & buy from a company like FuelMoto that will pre-program it for you.

Just my 2 cents
I bought it from DYNOJET and they are sending it pre-programmed.

Your mechanic is blowing smoke. I am guessing he doesn't know how to tune with a Power Vision. Power Vision is a well known and widely used tuner that is very powerful in tuning your bike. So if it is coming from Dynojet pre-programmed then you can be sure it will be good to go. And Dynojet works side by side with Fuel Moto who will work tirelessly to be sure your bike is running the way it should. So being you are getting it from Dynojet Fuel Moto may work with you on a personal basis to be sure things are right but they would have to answer that for sure. I have run Power Visions on 3 bikes and have one currently on my 14'. All with great success.

OK... I feel better now.

This is the brainwashing harley is so good at. Your "mechanic" is at least confused and/or has no real knowledge of the powervision or he just is a liar.

That's bullshit !!!! Why would it blow up the motors on a 14 and not other motors? As far as install the PV is plug and play very user friendly. If you run into problems call Jamie at fuel moto he will help you out.
Like everyone else said - as long as the tune is good - then your fine. I had one from FuelMoto for my 11 FLHTK - I just traded it in on a new 14 FLHXS and I will more than likely be ordering one for it. No issues what so ever from it.
My PV has been on 3 bikes. It ain't blowing up sh*t. He's just trying to get you to use the tried and true SERT they are used to. You don't even need him to tune it. You will get the map you need from Dynojet. Just connect, marry the bike, and flash it. Done. Sheesh!

And then if you want to get even more technical with it, you can mount the unit to your handlebars and it will do all sorts of cool things.
