I think I should clarify myself since you seem to be interpreting my post as something other than a general statement.
I'm not shooting down what everyone else is using, If your goal is to be like everyone else then this is the place to get your information.

What I run is irrelevant but I will enlighten you since you pressed the point.

On my bagger: Thunderheader 2-1 system and a TTS master tune.
Softail: LSR 2-1 pipes and S&S "B" Carb
Fatboy: Thunderheader and S&S "E" Carb
Shovel: LSR 2-1.

For what it's worth, duel exhaust don't have the same performance gains as a correctly built 2-1 system.... Look no further than Doug Vancils - Vance and Hines top fuel bike, running a 2-1 exhaust... If you want real performance increases you need a 2-1 system with a collector.
Here is another example, 70% of the bikes (flat trackers) running the mile circuit are running a thunderheader because they make torque and HP.

I'm not saying the "average joe" is looking for race performance but when I spend $1-2k on an exhaust I expect a real performance gains. Same go's for a tuner, fuel injectors, carburetors ect.

I've spent countless amounts of money learning the hard way through both racing Pro Gas in AHDRA and lessons by top bike builders what works and what doesn't. Take it for what it is, Someone asked why everyone uses the same stuff I simply replied. If you are a slave to fashion then by all means, get yourself a set of VH true duels or whatever the general public thinks is best for your bike.
I'm here to learn like everyone else so maybe you can teach me something?

A new Harley is just like a new hot girlfriend. Your going to spend money on her, one way or the other. They like to go out in public and show off the goods.
Hey, I don't make the rules, it is just something we are hard wired to do.

disagree. Your logic says if the dealer installs highway pegs before the sale, it is stock. But if I install highway pegs after the sale, then it is not. If you bolt on an accessory (i.e. highway pegs) that can be removed and does not affect performance or original intent, still stock in my book.

All good Oldskewl. I doubt there is much I can teach you and I sort of figured that from your member name. Heck, I'm on my 4th Harley and none has had a carb. But your name is really why I was curious with what you had and what you ran. Old school is cool man. I am sure your Shovel is a sweet ride. My bud runs a Softail Custom with an 80ci EVO. It's pretty cool. Peace, ride safe.

I made a couple of cosmetic changes to it, using Harley parts, so it's still mostly stock, or at least it's just like OEM. Not OEM exactly, but using OEM parts, which is almost the same thing. And I upgraded the motor to a 107, but using the stock jugs, just bored out a little, and some CP high compression pistons. And I added a 5.5" wide rear wheel, so I could run a 180 rear tire, like Harley did in 09. And raked the front slightly so I could run a larger front wheel. And changed the tank to a six gallon tank, because that's what Harley did the following year, and I didn't want a five gallon gas tank when all my riding buds had six gallons. I guess the wheels, pistons, gas tank, seat, exhaust, handlebars, and windshield are aftermarket, along with some of the brakes and control cables. And a few other things. And it's in a custom color.

Most everything else is stock, though.

Mike,

Too funny!

love what you did to your stock road king cop, I mean stock ultra, I mean stock Street Glide, I mean stock Road Glide, I mean stock Harley-Davidson Motorcycle!

Your bike looks great!

YB
