I'm getting ready for some long distance rides this spring and summer and want to put a set of highway pegs & mounts on my Road King. Which setup do you like the best? I've seen several options and can't make up my mind:
- HD Mustache bar
- Lindby bar
- Various HD engine guard mounting brackets
I'll use the Chrome and Rubber Custom Footpegs most likely if I go with the mounting brackets on my stock engine guard, but can't quite figure out which of the mounting brackets would work best. The expense of the Lindby bar is such that if I go that route I want to make sure that I'll like it. Ditto for the HD Mustache bar.
After a fair amount of research, I settled on the following:
[ul][*]H-D Adjuystable mounts - Long Angled (part # 50829-07)[*]Kuryakyn Dually Iso-Pegs (part # 8028)[/ul]
I attached a picture below. Sorry for the poor quality. I am also still playing with where to locate them. Endless possibilities!! [sm=confused06.gif]
I put the New Kury Eurgo Mustache (spelling?) bar on my Street Glide and I really like it. The pegs are made into the bar and flip in and out. It is about as slick as they come. I looked at the HD bar and really didn't like it, kinda looked real plain jane. The Kury bar has some real nice angles, a nice design. Take a close look at it before you buy. I've had the Linby and its top of the line as well. Both look better to me than the HD bar. But the Kury bar with the pegs made where you can run with them in two different positions seem the best to me. Also, get the part # and buy it off of Ebay for about 50 bucks under most shops, new still in a box. I've seen them on there several times.
Went with Ness mounts mostly for their clean look. Streamliner pegs to match my boards. Mounted lowon the crashbar works for me, but wouldn't for someone with less than a 34" inseam.
edit: picture, why did you leave me? please come back
Well, its embarrassing to say, but I don't know which pegs I have -- they were on the bike when I got it, but here's a pic. They are great. I have so many positions, I'm thinking about publishing a book for that "sex on a bike" thread...
like the way you have option as to foot position -kwgrimes
this is an important thing on mid/long trips, imo
Get something like iso wings with short angle mounts or mini baords you wont be sorry. I put the iso wings on and for my average ht went with a short angle mount by kury. think its called neu tech as a kit on kury web site. A downward stretch in several langths is what keeps my restless legs happy. I have found that too stretched out strait is only comfy for a short while, can still kick all the way out momintarily enough with setup.
