Default Heated Grips Power Source Question

I have a 2009 Ultra Classic and on the headlamp harness about 8" back from the headlamp plug is an orange/white wire with a red cap on it that is taped up. According to the Service Manual it is the [29B] HDI Harness for International models. I believe that the orange/white wire is accessory power and the black wire there with it is ground.

Can I use this HDI Harness to power the heated grips? (I know I would still have to run the red to the battery with the fuse as well)

I believe you'll be fine doing that.

In fact I would of hooked up my Heat Demons heated grips that same way but already had my GPS wired to it.

I elected to use my cigarette lighter instead for the heated grips.

Those two wires as well as the cigarette lighter wires are commonly used for lots of accessory hook ups. The 2014s don't have the same set up, they made a change on that for those who have those models.

the heated grips, use a 2 amps fuse on the orange/white wire that goes to the fuse box, you would be putting it on a 15 amp circuit.
the red fused wire going to the battery does have a 15 amp fuse inline.

Ok, I hooked up the grips as stated above, but I have no power to the grips.

Any suggestions..... I am going to look for the plug that I was told is in the batwing for the heated grips. Did not know there was one.... Going to see if I can get power from there.....

Disregard, they work, I thought they would warm up faster. However, they work pretty good considering its 20 degrees outside... LOL
