Default '17 RG Anyone know what this wire is?

Underneath my gauges, I was wondering what the wire is that is not attached. Bike was bought used and bars were changed.

The black and white wire with connector is coming from the throttle side wires.

Thanks.

believe that wire is for heated grips. If I have time tonight and no one else has answered I can look it up in wiring diagram. However about 95% sure it is for heated grips which is prewired on the throttle side

Gee, and I thought the Black/Purple combination was for heated grips as seen on the left side. At least that connector has a plug in it so the leads are not exposed. I am planning on doing heated grips soon. When I put heated grips on my '14 SG years ago, I "thought" the heated grips color was the black/purple.

Thanks for the help thus far.

Found the wiring diagrams online.
Violet/Black is heated grips, black/white is for accessory.

Violet/Black power the left heated grip, left grip connects to the right grip via the black/white.

According to the '17 Touring Electrical diagnostics (diagram A12), power for heated grips first goes to the left switchpack via a pair of red & black wires (from connector #129A (male). It comes out of the left switchback via a pair of black wires w/white stripe to connector #206A (male), and mates to connector #206B (female) that carries the power to the right switchback via a pair of white & black wires.

So if that white & black pair of wires has a connector that is female (sockets) then chances are you should look for the mating connector that has 2 black wires w/white stripe coming from the left side. (At least according to H-D's own schematics.)

Thanks, this one is helpful. I won't be installing my heated grips until next week. When I did my SG, all I had to hook up was the violet/black wire and all was well. Since someone put on bars seems they left the white/black connector dangling and I need to find the other end.
