Bike handles great, feels fine but don't want to wind up blowing the front on a long ride. These appear to be tubeless as it says on the sidewalls.
Don't go just by the tire type that's on there, might be a tubeless tire with a tube in it. Check the valve stem, if it's rubber, easy to tell, metal with no outside nut is tubeless, metal with outside nut could be either one, hard to tell with some. If it actually is a tubeless spoke wheel, won't have to worry about an old tube, and I'd probably use it a while, too, but I'd replace it before any multistate trips, old hard rubber can sure get slick in the rain. Good to hear you're going to replace that front, it's way too old.
Just to be clear, the date of manufacture will look something like this:
The number on the right indicates week 51 in year '07. Recommendations for replacing tyres vary - I have seen 5 and 6 years mentioned elsewhere. Taking the 6 years rule, in 2014 any tyre made in or before 2008 should definitely be replaced before the riding season IMHO.
It is a safety thing here, you only have two wheels and tires on the road on a bike so it
is time to change out the old tires. Start the riding season out on new rubber it is a safety thing.
Think I will replace both tires, tubes, and liners and start fresh. Btw, any suggestions as to the best way to air up tires on a RK? Seems like the stems are a bit hard to access on the rear due to the bags. Remove or crawl under each time checking air?

I put my leather gloves on the ground and use them for knee pads and crawl around. No easy way.
Dunlop told me to replace any tires over 6 years old.
