Default 2012 RK engine clatter

Old topic but I'm a new Harley owner. Just wanted to know what everyone thought about the engine clatter coming from my 2012 RK 103"? I made a video and will post it here as soon as I figure all of it out. It's hard to hear it on the video, but it is much more pronounced when you are standing next to it. It sounds slightly like a can with beans in it, not normal valve chatter. Just wanted to make sure that it is not something that I need to be worried about.

Not saying yours is this but mine rattled like crazy when I first got it. Turned out it was left footboard. When no foot pressure on it, it rattled bad. First mistook it for engine clatter.

You didn't give details about when this happens (hot/cold, RPM's etc...) However if it is doing it when the bike is hot at idle with the clutch out and the tranny in neutral, it is called neutral rattle and HD calls this normal on the 6 speed trannys. You will notice the sound coming from the right side of the bike. If you pull in the clutch and the noise goes away after a few seconds its the dreaded neutral rattle. Has something to do with the gear lash.

Picking the bike up in a little bit from Fort Thunder. They said it was my rear shift lever. It was hanging on by a thread. I'll update after I pick it up.
Thanks.

Turns out, the shift lever was hanging by a thread. Didn't even know those rattled off!
