Here are some good choice for low-profile High Performance Air Cleaners, that won't cause a problem with leg clearance. Some designs work with a rain sock, others don't need a rain sock.
i had one on my 12 CVO. took it off, right leg hung out in the breeze. i certain its sitting somewhere in a box in my garage. There is a lot better high flow air breathers out there than that one.
I put one on my RG to get extra knee room, but I also installed floorboard extenders. I have a 30" inseam.
I think the theory for not using it with lowers is because of the "dead air space" behind the lowers, anyone remember the old muscle cars in the early 70's had cowl induction hood, that drew the intake just in front of the w/s? Because there was dead space that the intake could suck more air in. Thats my thought on it.
The Heavy Breather A/C is like an HD Sportster, its really cool for about 6 months and then you get tired of it. I also had the chrome cover for it, and the cover added a couple more inches of diameter to make it even more mammoth.
Put the same thing on my Street Glide.........works great and I like the look. A friend even commented on it. Don't know if your bike has an electronic throttle but mine does and when I took the OEM intake cover off to put on the new breather I realized I needed to purchase the chrome cover HD sells to go over the throttle control box.
